The faint line between sky and sea.

by Ed Mundio

about

I attempted to create this sonic melding of human and nature sounds, a rising and falling of waves, a drifting in and out of different fields of attention, conscious observation and felt impressions, accepting the wonder and mystery of the natural world around us, discovering the order and structure in what at first appears incoherent or random.

Made in response to the themes of fragility and transience of seascapes
and the inter-relationship between and human and nature as found in the beautiful haiku sequence of "Bull Island Haiku" by Pat Boran. Particularly drawn to this excerpt, "Waves themselves, their wings
flashing silver when they turn
as one – the starlings.
*
The sky and the sea.
And that faint line in between,
drawn as if for me.

All day by the sea,
meeting my own footprints now
out to look for me.

First, a mystery,
the absence of things. And then?
Then the land, the sea …"
